Challenge

When Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) set out to expand the Kingwood Medical Center, the goal was clear: enhance critical care capabilities without compromising day-to-day operations. With DPR Construction leading the project, FSG Electric was selected to handle the electrical construction portion of the job. The $1 million+ project required precision and coordination, especially with construction taking place at an active healthcare facility.

Solution

FSG’s scope included electrical work for a new fourth-floor shell and a fully built-out fifth floor, which housed 36 new ICU and IMCU patient rooms. Additionally, FSG supported the expansion of the hospital’s Central Plant with power infrastructure for a new chiller, cooling tower, boiler, and vital medical gas systems. Throughout the process, FSG coordinated closely with the general contractor, engineering firm, and architect to ensure that electrical systems were installed to spec and ready for operation.

Result

Despite the complexity of working within a live hospital environment, FSG completed its work without disruption to patient care. Their ability to stay on schedule while integrating new systems seamlessly with existing operations demonstrated both technical skill and a deep understanding of healthcare construction demands. The result was a smooth project delivery that expanded Kingwood Medical Center’s capacity to serve the community for years to come.
