Challenge
As New Jersey’s largest provider of inpatient and outpatient services, Hackensack University Medical Center (HUMC) sets a high bar for healthcare innovation and facility excellence. To support their mission and maintain their status as one of the nation’s top hospitals, HUMC partnered with FSG to modernize their lighting infrastructure across the entire campus. With a contract value of $949,000, the project focused on significantly improving energy performance, safety, and aesthetics through advanced lighting solutions.Solution
FSG tackled the lighting overhaul with precision, replacing outdated fixtures in a variety of spaces including mechanical rooms, parking garages, cove lighting areas, and the hospital’s soaring 65-foot atrium. Each upgrade was carefully selected to balance light quality with energy savings. In the parking garages, 175W metal halide lamps were swapped for 55W high-output LED screw-in lamps, drastically cutting power consumption without sacrificing brightness. Similar efficiency gains were achieved throughout the facility using LED linear lamps and custom retrofit solutions.Result
Beyond energy savings, the lighting transformation helped elevate the patient, visitor, and staff experience by creating brighter, more welcoming environments across the campus.
