FSG Provides Proactive Disinfection Solutions for Fullerton School District in California

Challenge

In the summer of 2020, the Fullerton School District staff realized the need to improve indoor air quality at a Junior High campus. With concerns about the enclosed campus and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, they sought constructive action to keep their schools safe. As a result, they turned to FSG to understand their building disinfection options. FSG worked with the district to design and implement a solution that provided peace of mind and future HVAC cost savings, benefiting both the staff and students.

Solution

The team at FSG’s Placentia office met with members of the school district staff and explained the various technologies available to disinfect the school and administrative facilities the district maintains. Twice in the summer of 2020, and again at the end of that year, Fullerton School District made the decision to contract with FSG for the delivery and installation of Needlepoint Bi-Polar Ionization (NPBI) units to integrate with each facility’s existing HVAC system. The district also took delivery of four (4) 3000-watt UV-C disinfection carts to deploy in buses and empty spaces that see the highest volume of people during normal operating hours.

Result

FSG's installation of Needlepoint Bipolar Ionization (NPBI) units in Fullerton School District resulted in improved indoor air quality and a sense of security among school employees and students during the Fall semester. The investment in disinfection technology also allowed older HVAC systems in some facilities to meet current filtration efficiency standards while using less energy. For school administrators and trustees, the NPBI units provided a dual benefit of improved IAQ and potential HVAC cost savings in the future.
