FSG Chicago helped a local hotel upgrade its parking lot lighting while taking advantage of local utility rebates to fund the project

Challenge

FSG initially met the customer at the hotel to prepare a quote for an EV charging station installation project. During the meeting, the team noticed the hotel's parking lot still utilized outdated metal halide lighting. As a program service provider of the ComEd Energy Efficiency programs, FSG has access to great local electric utility rebate incentives for LED lighting upgrades. However, only a few weeks remained in the program year. The team had to work quickly to ensure the project was approved and completed within the two week deadline.

Solution

The FSG team wasted no time preparing an accurate proposal, including the required rebate paperwork, and selecting quality LED lighting solutions and controls. The project scope included replacing the existing 400 watt metal halide pole light fixtures with 150 watt LED area lights, utilizing networked lighting controls, and reusing the existing poles to minimize cost and maximize rebate incentives. Thanks to the quick action of the FSG team and the program rebates and bonuses, approximately 90% of the project costs were covered.

Result

FSG successfully procured materials and completed the installation in time to qualify for the full rebate incentives and a limited-time project bonus incentive. Rebates and incentives covered about $7,576 of the $8,468 project cost, leaving the hotel with only $891 out-of-pocket. Hotel management was thrilled with the upgraded lighting and grateful for the opportunity to leverage the utility rebates and incentives to reduce project costs. The hotel now enjoys brighter lighting and saves on energy costs with LED lighting and controls.
