ABIA and Austin Commercial trusted FSG Signs to upgrade directional signage with Digital Signage by Daktronics

Challenge

As Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (ABIA) continued to grow, the need for an upgraded wayfinding system became clear. To modernize the airport’s signage, general contractor Austin Commercial turned to FSG Signs for a comprehensive solution. The project required replacing static directional signs with high-resolution LED digital displays, improving navigation and enhancing the overall passenger experience.

Solution

FSG Signs, in collaboration with FSG Electric, handled the fabrication, assembly, and installation of more than 40 digital signs, including massive 10’ x 60’ Daktronics displays mounted across four lanes of traffic. The team navigated the challenges of limited overnight work hours, precise electrical requirements, and complex coordination with multiple contractors. By leveraging in-house expertise, FSG ensured seamless execution, from testing high-powered circuits in the shop to installing step-down transformers at the airport.

Result

The result is a modern, flexible signage system that allows for customizable messaging and improved traffic flow throughout ABIA. By delivering a full-service solution, FSG Signs played a key role in enhancing the airport’s infrastructure, creating a dynamic and efficient environment for travelers and airport staff alike.
